Who is the Vanishing Man

 Source: New York Metro News

By Amy Ellis

Who is the Vanishing Man?  That’s the question that reporters are starting to ask as more criminals are brought in by this vigilante.  Police records show that this vigilante has been operating for at least four months.  They have “helped” many people and stopped a number of break-ins.  The people this person “helps” bring in have nothing linking them and the level of crime they commit runs the whole gambit.  While they have taken people off the streets, they have also made police work harder in the process.

We say he vanishes because that’s what all of the people he takes off the street say.  One minute they’re there the next they’re nowhere to be seen.  Apparently, he also never lays a finger on anyone yet police always find his ‘victims’ unconscious.  How exactly he does any of it is a mystery but it’s unlikely that these many people have the same story without there being some truth to it all.  One report this paper had access to said “It’s like fighting a mirage”.

The actions of this vigilante raise concerns about the state of police work and the safety of the public.  The vigilantes' most recent activities have put a wrench in a recent plan by state-wide authorities; though this paper does not know what this plan was.  With this new presence on the street, there will have to be a contingent of officers who now have to work to ensure this vigilante is apprehended; an insider has informed this paper.

There is also public safety to consider.  This person seems to operate, mostly, at night.  While this person has brought in people either caught in the act or with known criminal records that does not mean innocent civilians are not at risk.  With what has already been seen as the outcomes of the vigilantes' actions one mistaken identity could lead to a lot of trouble.  That's not to say anything of the possible effects of the way these people are found.  In short, the presence of a vigilante raises serious questions about the role they play in criminal justice and possible concerns to public safety.

Meet the Characters - Jenifer Williams

Today I'm here to introduce Jenifer Williams.  She's a senior in high school who has known Tyler since they were eleven.  A very outgoing person; she's on the school track team and partakes in different student committees and clubs.  She always tries to make time for friends in her busy schedule of activities and family matters.  Her main interest, outside of sports, is music and music production.  Unsure of what she'll do after school she knows it wil have to do with music.

The Iron Man

Tyler and Brenda were in a subway car making sure that they delivered all the paperwork they were supposed to.   It was one of the rare times they were doing something that was more in line with their official title as interns in The Lab.   They were also selected because they were handing over highly important contracts with other businesses around the city; a task Mr. Smith trusted them with instead of the normal means.   The problem was that they were running late for a meeting back at The Lab. Tyler texted Jennifer about their date later that night when he thought he saw something at the back of the subway car.  Interestingly, he noticed Brenda saw something too.  Raising an eyebrow, he asked “You notice something as well?” She looked at him a little too quickly and said “Thought I saw something.  Probably just my imagination.” “Yeah, maybe.  I just hope we’re not too late for that meeting with Lunar Technologies.” Tyler said and notic...

File - The Agent

Brenda was in a room with several other Order agents; most just waiting to hit the streets.   A lot of the people around her were people unhappy with the way things were or wanted to come out on top when this was all set and done.   Looking around the room, this was one of the few spaces where agents were expected to not wear their protective gear; a way to see if they were paying attention.   There were some faces she recognized from school, a few from local businesses, while she didn’t care to know most.   It wasn’t her place to know who they were, just that they paid attention to Caption Sigma. Caption Sigma was a thin man with the voice of a foghorn, a useful skill here and in his day job.  He had his red hair cut military short and sharp eyes that scanned the small crowd.  Brenda didn’t actually need to stand next to him, but that was protocol.  He pointed to the board next to him and said “So, team A will be picking u...
